Llanidloes transmitting station

The Llanidloes transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility consisting of a self-supporting 23 m lattice mast erected on land that is itself about 245 m above sea level about 1 km to the west of the town of Llanidloes in Powys, Wales. It was originally built by the BBC, entering service just before Christmas 1966 transmitting the now-defunct 405-line VHF television system. Transmissions of the original three FM Radio services began in February 1967.

Llawryglyn

Llawr y Glyn (or Llawryglyn) is a small hamlet in Powys in the heart of Mid Wales. It lies about 10 miles west of the town of Newtown. It has changed very little over the passage of time, as it is primarily an agricultural community.

Clywedog Reservoir

The Clywedog reservoir is a reservoir near Llanidloes, Wales. Completed in 1967, the reservoir was built near the B4518 road, Powys, to supply water to Birmingham and the English Midlands. The reservoir was formed by damming the Afon Clywedog, a tributary of the River Severn. Its concrete buttress dam is the tallest concrete dam in the UK, with a height of 72 metres and a length of 230 metres. When at capacity the reservoir contains approximately 50,000 megalitres of water.
