Nabesna River

The Nabesna River flows northward from Wrangell-St. Elias National Park to join the Chisana River near Northway Junction, where they form the Tanana River. The Nabesna River travels through a deep valley and arrives in a broad plain. It is a torrent in its upper reaches, but enters the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge as a significantly docile river. The Nabesna flows through a diverse landscape of flats, hills, spruce and birch forests, lakes, and extensive marshes.
