Benson (Amtrak station)

The Benson, Arizona (BEN) is located at 105 East 4th Street in Benson, Arizona, USA. Benson is a flag stop on the Sunset Limited, combined with the Texas Eagle as it passes through Benson 3 days a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday westbound; Monday, Thursday and Saturday eastbound. As of January 2008 there are no facilities for Amtrak passengers other than a metal shelter. The nearby Southern Pacific Railroad Depot replica has been used as a tourist information center.

Benson, Arizona

Benson is a city in Cochise County, Arizona, in the United States, 45 miles east-southeast of Tucson. It was founded as a rail terminal for the area, and still serves as such. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 4,934. The city was founded in 1880 when the Southern Pacific Railroad came through. It was named after Judge William B. Benson, a friend of Charles Crocker, president of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Vega–Bray Observatory

Vega–Bray Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Astronomers Inn located on a small hill overlooking the San Pedro River Valley, just east of Benson, Arizona (USA). Founded in 1990 by Max Bray, an optician and Dr. Eduardo Vega, a pathologist, it is home to the Hoot–Vega Radio Telescope. Previously known as Sky Watchers Inn, the Astronomers Inn is located next to the Vega–Bray Observatory at approximately 4,000 feet above the river valley.
