Alchesay High School

Alchesay High School is a public high school located on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in Whiteriver, Arizona, Navajo County. It was founded in 1956 and named after Chief Alchesay, who was a key person in the formation of the White Mountain Apache tribe. (More than half of the students at Alchesay are White Mountain Apache. ) The first graduating class graduated in 1960.

Battle of Fort Apache

The Battle of Fort Apache was an engagement of the Apache Wars between the cavalry garrison of Fort Apache and dozens of mounted White Mountain Apache warriors. The battle occurred in eastern Arizona Territory on September 1, 1881.
