Reggae on the River

Reggae on the River (locally known as simply Reggae) is a reggae festival that was held annually on the first weekend in August in Humboldt County, California. It began in 1983 as a benefit for the Mateel Community Center, a nonprofit for southern Humboldt County. In that year the center's community hall in Garberville was burned down by an arsonist, and the center charged then-board member Carol Bruno with organizing the festival to raise money for a new hall.

Garberville is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California. It is located on the South Fork of the Eel River 52 miles south-southeast of Eureka, at an elevation of 535 feet (163 m).
