Lake Tahoe Dam

Lake Tahoe Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Truckee River, at the outlet of Lake Tahoe in Placer County. The dam is located in Tahoe City and serves as the main storage facility for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's Newlands Project that also includes the Lahontan Dam and two diversion dams, providing irrigation water for 55,000 acres of cropland mainly in the Lahontan Valley of western Nevada.

Northstar California

Northstar California (previously Northstar-at-Tahoe) is a mountain resort situated near the north shore of Lake Tahoe in Placer County, California, approximately 200 mi from the San Francisco Bay Area. The 3,000 acres resort features 2,280 ft vertical drop downhill terrain accessed by 19 lifts, a snowmaking system, a cross-country center, a "village", on-site lodging and summer activities including an 18-hole golf course and a lift-served mountain bike park.

Tevis Cup

The Western States Trail Ride, popularly called The Tevis Cup, is a 100-mile endurance ride. The amateur event has been held annually since 1955. The ride is held in Placer County, California, starting at 5:15 a.m. at Robie Equestrian Park near the town of Truckee, across the crest of the Sierra Nevada near the Squaw Valley Ski Resort, and ending at 5:15 a.m. near the fairgrounds in Auburn.
