Golden Fleece Tunnel (California)

The Golden Fleece Tunnel, is a gold mining site in the Westville gold mining district in Placer County, California. The mine is located 2 miles northeast of the former mining town Westville, California, north to the Foresthill Divide Road. It has a 3,000 ft tunnel and was operated successfully by the Golden Fleece Mining and Milling Company (New York). The mine is no longer in operation. Other nearby mines are the Hogsback Tunnel and the Union Tunnel.

Emigrant Gap

Emigrant Gap is a gap in a ridge on the California Trail as it crosses the Sierra Nevada, to the west of what is now known as Donner Pass. Here the cliffs are so steep that, back in the 1840s, the pioneers on their way to California had to lower their wagons on ropes in order to continue. The Emigrant Gap was so named because it was a low gap on a ridge where the emigrants' wagons crossed from the American River drainage to the Bear River drainage.

Scotts Flat Reservoir

Scotts Flat Reservoir is an artificial lake in the Tahoe National Forest of Nevada County, California, 6.5 miles east of Nevada City. The lake is at an elevation of 3,100 ft and has a surface area of 850 acres, with 7.5 miles of shoreline lined with pine trees. Amenities consist of two launch ramps, a marina, campsites, a picnic area, sandy beaches, and a general store.
