West Sacramento (also known as West Sac) is a city in Yolo County, California. It is contiguous with Sacramento, but is separated by the Sacramento River which is also the county line, so West Sacramento is in a different county than Sacramento. It is a fast growing community; the population was 48,744 at the 2010 census, up from 31,615 at the 2000 census.

Bryte (formerly, Riverbank) is a former town in Yolo County, California, now forming part of West Sacramento. It is located just south of the Sacramento River in the eastern portion of the county. Bryte's ZIP Code is 95605 and its area code 916. It lies at an elevation of 23 feet (7 m). Bryte was named after Mike Bryte, an early dairy farmer on whose land the town arose. Bryte came to California in 1849 to try his hand at gold mining.

The route was originally a branch line of the Sacramento Northern Railroad, a Western Pacific Railroad subsidiary.
