Rancho Sanjon de los Moquelumnes

Rancho Sanjon de los Moquelumnes was a 35,508-acre Mexican land grant in present day Sacramento County and San Joaquin County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Anastasio Chaboya. Sanjon is Spanish for ditch or deep slough. The grant stretched from the Cosumnes River on the north to the Mokelumne River on the south, and encompassed present day Galt.

Galt High School

Galt High School, a WASC accredited school, is one of two available high schools within Galt, California. The school has its own GTV, a broadcasting station covering extensive news created by Amelia Moreno; The school is also home to a theatre group, Infinite Theatre Group, headed by drama teacher, James Nunes, who perform a wide range of pieces from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to their most recent production of "What I Want to Say but Never Will".
