Hartford circus fire

The Hartford circus fire, which occurred on July 6, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, was one of the worst fire disasters in the history of the United States. The fire occurred during an afternoon performance of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus that was attended by approximately 7,000 people. An estimated 167-169 people died and over 700 were injured.

Bulkeley Bridge

The Bulkeley Bridge (also known as Hartford Bridge, Bridge No. 980A) is a stone arch bridge composed of nine spans located in Hartford, Connecticut. The bridge carries Interstate 84, U.S. Route 6 and U.S. Route 44 across the Connecticut River, connecting Hartford to East Hartford. As of 2005 the bridge carried an average daily traffic of 142,500 cars. The Bulkeley Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in use in the Interstate Highway System. It is also the largest stone arch bridge in the world.
