Rumsey Hall School

Rumsey Hall School is a coeducational boarding and country day school for kindergarten through ninth grade located in Washington, Connecticut. As of 2005, the school enrolls approximately 300 students and employs 54 full- and part-time faculty members. Thomas W. Farmen, the school's fifth headmaster, was appointed in 1985. The school grounds comprise 30 buildings on 148 acres along the Bantam River.

Bantam is a borough in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 759 at the 2000 census. While separated for census and historic reasons, Bantam is governed as an integral part of the town of Litchfield. Bantam is the 2nd least populous borough in Connecticut, only beaten by Fenwick and is the 3rd least populous municipality in Connecticut only beaten by Union and Fenwick.

Western Connecticut Highlands AVA

The Western Connecticut Highlands AVA is an American Viticultural Area that includes all of Litchfield and parts of Fairfield, New Haven, and Hartford counties in Connecticut. The Connecticut Highlands are far enough away from Long Island Sound that there is little of the moderating effect on climate that large bodies of water produce. The region is relatively cool, with a short growing season between mid-May and mid-September. The soil in the area is glacial schist and granite.
