Blackwater River (Florida)

The Blackwater River of Florida is a 56.6-mile-long river rising in southern Alabama and flowing through the Florida Panhandle to the Gulf of Mexico. The river enters Florida in Okaloosa County and flows through Santa Rosa County to Blackwater Bay, an arm of Pensacola Bay. The river passes through Blackwater River State Park. Milton, the county seat of Santa Rosa County, is located on the river.

East Bay (Florida)

East Bay (Florida) is a bay located in the far western Florida Panhandle. Milton, which is the county seat of Santa Rosa County, is located on the north end of the bay. Unusually, East Bay is connected to open waters via Pensacola Bay to its southwest. The bay is fed primarily by the Blackwater River. During Hurricane Ivan's landfall in September 2004, the storm surge from the Gulf of Mexico came in to East Bay, flooding the shoreline of the bay.
