2002 Tampa plane crash

The 2002 Tampa plane crash was an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 5, 2002. The incident occurred when a high-school student of Eastlake High in Tarpon Springs, Florida, Charles J. Bishop, inspired by the September 11 attacks, stole a Cessna 172 and crashed it into the side of the Bank of America Tower in downtown Tampa, Florida. The impact killed the teenager and damaged an office room. There were no other injuries.

Curtis Hixon Hall, located at 600 Ashley Drive, was an indoor sports arena, convention center, concert venue, and special events center built downtown beside the Hillsborough River in Tampa, Florida. It was built in 1964, opened in 1965, and torn down in 1993.

Straz Center for the Performing Arts

The David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts opened its doors as the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Tampa, Florida in July 1987 and has welcomed more than 10 million guests. The venue was renamed in November 2009 to recognize the generous donation, the largest individual philanthropic gift ever made to a cultural institution in the Tampa Bay area, of financier David A. Straz, Jr. The Straz Center is located downtown on a 9-acre site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River.

Tampa Bay Times Forum

The Tampa Bay Times Forum is an arena in Tampa, Florida, that has been used for ice hockey, basketball, and arena football games, as well as concerts. It is home to the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League. In January 2012, the facility was renamed Tampa Bay Times Forum in keeping with the renaming of the St. Petersburg Times, which has the arena's naming rights. The newspaper's naming rights agreement is through August 31, 2018.

Dick Greco Plaza

Dick Greco Plaza is a HARTline transit center located in the southern end of downtown Tampa across from the Marriott Waterside and the Tampa Convention Center. It is the terminal station for the TECO Line Streetcar System and the In-Town Trolley routes. It opened on January 30, 2003 and cost $3 million to build. The station was officially dedicated on May 29, 2008 in honor of Dick A. Greco, a former mayor who was instrumental in bringing streetcars back to Tampa after an almost 60 year absence.
