Otter mound
Otter Mound is located at 1831 Addison Court, Marco Island. The 2.45 acre preserve is located in southwestern Collier County in a residential area of Marco Island, known locally as the Indian Hills section. The preserve is maintained by Collier County. The preserve is named for a previous resident, Ernest Otter a one-time owner who had occupied the property until 1997. Otter is credited for the unique whelk shell terraces that define the preserve’s signature man-made feature.

Originally named San Marco Island by Spanish explorers, Marco Island is the largest barrier island within Southwest Florida's Ten Thousand Islands area extending southerly to Cape Sable.

Goodland is a census-designated place (CDP) in Collier County, Florida, United States. The population was 320 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Naples–Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. Located on an outlying portion of Marco Island, it is the closest community to Cape Romano, the southern tip of a nearby island that was the official site of the Florida landfall of Hurricane Wilma.

Cape Romano
Cape Romano is a cape at the southern end of Caxambas Island, just south of Marco Island and northwest of the Ten Thousand Islands in Collier County, Florida. Calusa Indians founded the settlement and called it Manataca. Juan Ponce de León briefly stopped at Manataca on his first trip from Puerto Rico to Florida, but the Indians tried to fight him off. Cape Romano is where Hurricane Wilma made its first U.S. landfall in October 2005.
