Sun Ray, Florida, is an unincorporated community in south Polk County, Florida. Its area is almost entirely land; the total water area is less than 0.01 square miles and most of that area is septic ponds on the south edge of Sun Ray. Approximately 90% of the community is on the east side of US Highway 27. A railroad line runs diagonally south to north along the southwest boundary of Sun Ray. Sun Ray measures 0.77 miles at its longest point and 0.22 miles at its widest point.

Lake Streety is a natural freshwater lake in south Polk County, Florida. It is 0.4 mi southwest of Little Sun Ray and 1.4 mi southwest of Sun Ray. Both of these are small unincorporated communities. Lake Streety is just north of the Avon Park Cut Off Road and is bordered on the northeast by Lake Streety Road, which is a sand road. The lake has a 324-acre surface area. There are no public swimming areas or boat ramps on the lake's shore.

Pittsburg, Florida is a town in southern Polk County, Florida at Latitude 27.65361 and Longitude: -81.50278, named for the industrial heritage of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its elevation is 105 feet . It was mostly known for phosphate mining and a heavy industry rail spur (since abandoned), used mainly for transporting phosphates and cattle. It is about 5 miles (8 km) north of Avon Park, Florida.

Lake Olivia is an 89-acre freshwater lake located within the Avon Park Lakes subdivision in northwest Highlands County, Florida. It is to the northwest of the incorporated city of Avon Park. Maximum depth is about 45 feet, with a fairly steep contour to the depth. The lake's shape is round. There were many years of drought, depleting the lake's water volume. The last two years saw more rain and a swampy area now surrounds almost all of Lake Olivia.

Lake Lillian is a 36-acre freshwater lake in northern Highlands County, Florida. It is adjacent to the Avon Park Lakes Subdivision, north of the city of Avon Park. The slope of the lake drops quickly from the shoreline to a depth of about 45 feet . This lake has no public access, as it is entirely surrounded by private property. On the northeast side is the now vacant Walker Memorial Hospital. On the southwest side is the local Seventh-day Adventist Church.
