Naples is a principal city of the Naples–Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had an estimated total population of 315,839 on July 1, 2007. Although Naples is officially the county seat of Collier County, the courthouse is located east of the city in unincorporated East Naples.

Naples Zoo
The Naples Zoo (or more formally, Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens) was opened in September 1969 in Naples, Florida, in what was once the gardens for botanist Dr. Henry Nehrling's collection of plants. The gardens were neglected after Nehrling's death, but reopened in 1954 by Julius Fleischmann. Animals were added by Larry and Jane Tetzlaff in 1969, and the gardens were reopened as a zoo. The zoo has about 70 species, though not all of these are on display at any given time.

The Naples Players (TNP) is a nationally recognized community theatre company located in Naples, Florida. The company was founded January 19, 1953 and performs in the Sugden Community Theatre at 701 5th Avenue South in downtown Naples. It has been named the "Best Live Theatre" in Southwest Florida (including professional theaters) ten times by the readers poll of The Naples Daily News.
