Wekiva River
The Wekiva River (sometimes spelled Wekiwa, a Creek word meaning spring of water) is a 15.7-mile-long river starting in two separate fresh water springs in central Florida and ending in the St. Johns River. One of the springs is at Kelly Park, otherwise known as Rock Springs, and the other is in Wekiwa Springs State Park. Both springs border the Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park. Blackwater Creek is a tributary of the Wekiva River.

Two major central Florida roadways that run near the lake are State Road 415 and Interstate 4. It forms the border of Seminole County and Volusia County It is the 8th largest lake in the Orlando metropolitan area, after Lake Jesup, 7 miles (11 km) to the south.
