Battle of Fort McAllister (1864)

The Second Battle of Fort McAllister took place December 13, 1864, during the final stages of Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's March to the Sea during the American Civil War. Union forces overwhelmed a small Confederate force defending the strategically important Fort McAllister near Savannah, Georgia, a major Federal objective.

Keller, Georgia

Keller is a small unincorporated community located in southern Bryan County, Georgia, United States, east of Richmond Hill. Its boundaries are ill-defined, but the community could be said to be centered on the intersection of S.R. 144 and Belfast-Keller Road. Currently the area, like all of South Bryan, is a place of extensive residential development with a number of planned neighborhoods. However, Keller also has a significant historical aspect.

Beaulieu, Georgia

Beaulieu is an unincorporated village located about 12 miles south of downtown Savannah, Georgia, USA. Beaulieu began in the nineteenth century as a summer resort for well-heeled Savannahians. A few old homes remain, but most current structures are more modern. The village still retains a Deep South atmosphere, with big live oaks covered with Spanish moss. The primary access road to Beaulieu is Beaulieu Avenue, which runs for approximately 1.1 miles from Whitfield Avenue to Shipyard Road.

Armstrong Atlantic State University

Armstrong Atlantic State University, also referred to as Armstrong Atlantic, Armstrong, and formerly AASU, is a four-year public university, part of the University System of Georgia. It is located on a 268-acre campus in suburban Savannah, Georgia, United States. The campus is approximately fifteen minutes from downtown Savannah and 25 miles from Tybee Island beaches. The name AASU is no longer encouraged due to the university's drive to distinguish itself using the unique Armstrong name.
