As of the 2010 census, the population is 14,464. The county seat is Ludowici. It is a part of the Hinesville-Fort Stewart metropolitan statistical area.

WTHG is a radio station licensed to Hinesville, Georgia. The station flipped from a variety hits "Freedom" format to a classic rock format known as "The Hawk" in late April, 2006. In December 2008 the format changed to The Greatest Hits of The 60's, 70's, 80's and Today.
