Bunker Hill Mine and Smelting Complex

The Bunker Hill Mine and Smelting Complex ("Bunker Hill smelter"), was a large smelter located in Kellogg, Idaho. When built, it was the largest smelting facility in the world. The late 1880s saw a boom in mining activity in Idaho's Silver Valley as railroad lines were built through what was previously inaccessible wilderness. The Bunker Hill mine, the largest of the Coeur d'Alene area mines, was discovered in 1885 by Noah Kellogg.

Smelterville, Idaho

Smelterville is a city in Shoshone County, Idaho, United States. The population was 627 at the 2010 census. Smelterville has recently gained prominence in the Silver Valley, due to the addition of a Wal-Mart store. The town was named in 1929 by a voice vote of its residents; the other choices were Van Rena and Silver City (already used in southwestern Idaho).

Kellogg High School

Kellogg High School is a four-year public secondary school in Kellogg, Idaho. The only high school in the Kellogg School District #391, it serves grades 9–12 in the western Silver Valley: the communities of Kellogg, Wardner, Pinehurst, and Smelterville in western Shoshone County, and Cataldo and Rose Lake in eastern Kootenai County. The principal of KHS is Wayne Pfeifer. The school colors are purple and gold and the mascot is a wildcat.

Kellogg, Idaho

Kellogg is a city in the Silver Valley of Shoshone County, Idaho, United States, in the Idaho Panhandle region. The city lies near the Coeur d'Alene National Forest and about 36 miles east-southeast of Coeur d'Alene along Interstate 90. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 2,120, down by a third from its population in 1980.
