Nez Perce County, Idaho

Nez Perce County [Eng. pron. Nezz Purse] is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The population was 39,265 at the 2010 Census. The county seat is Lewiston. The county is named for the Nez Percé tribe. Nez Perce County is part of the Lewiston, ID-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes the entire county and all of Asotin County, Washington.

Spalding, Idaho

Spalding is an unincorporated village in Nez Percé County, Idaho, United States, ten miles east of Lewiston, on the Clearwater River close to the intersection of U.S. Routes 95 and 12. The village was named after Reverend Henry Harmon Spalding, a missionary who taught the neighboring Nez Percé irrigation. The Headquarters and Visitor's Center for the Nez Percé National Historical Park are located at Spalding. It is part of the Lewiston, ID-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Fort Lapwai

Fort Lapwai (1862–1884), was a federal fort in present-day Lapwai in north central Idaho, United States. On the Nez Perce Indian Reservation in Nez Perce County, it was originally called Camp Lapwai until 1863. East of Lewiston, it was located on the west bank of Lapwai Creek, three miles (5 km) above where it joins the Clearwater River at the state's first settlement, Lapwai Mission Station, built in 1836 by Henry Spalding. It is part of the multi-site Nez Perce National Historical Park.
