Burley is the second-largest city in Idaho's Magic Valley region after Twin Falls. Along with nearby Rupert it forms the bulk of the "Mini-Cassia" area of southern Idaho. Burley is the principal city of the Burley, ID Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Cassia and Minidoka Counties.

Burley High School is a four-year secondary school in Burley, Idaho, the largest of four traditional high schools in the Cassia County School District #151. Its official title is Burley Senior High School and it has only had its 2100 Park Ave. address since the doors opened for the Spring Semester of 1999.

The Burley Micropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties in the Magic Valley region of Idaho, anchored by the city of Burley. It is commonly referred to locally as the "Mini-Cassia" area, an amalgam of Minidoka and Cassia Counties. As of the 2000 census, the μSA had a population of 41,590 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 40,924).
