Huntley is a rapidly growing village in McHenry and Kane Counties, Illinois. In 2008, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated the village's population to be 22,923. As of the 2000 Census, the village had a mere 5,730 people, meaning the village's population has more than tripled in eight years. Huntley has adopted a very aggressive development strategy that would fit more into place in the Sunbelt rather than in an outer suburb of Chicago. Currently, the village has 11.75 sq mi .

The Genoa Amtrak station is a proposed train station located in Genoa, Illinois, and will serve a new Chicago-Rockford-Dubuque Amtrak route that is expected to begin operation in late 2014 or early 2015. Genoa will serve the growing population of DeKalb County, as well as Northern Illinois University, which is located about 16 miles south of the station.
