The station was originally owned an operated as WMWA by the Midwestern Academy, a Christian day school affiliated with the General Church of the New Jerusalem. The radio courses at Glenbrook South were started in 1981. Shortly thereafter, in 1982, the high school bought evening time on WMWA.

Northbrook, Illinois
Northbrook is a village located at the northern edge of Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is a North Shore suburb of Chicago. The population was 33,170 at the 2010 census. When incorporated in 1901, the village was known as Shermerville in honor of Frederick Schermer, who donated the land for its first train station. The village changed its name to Northbrook in 1923 as an effort to improve its public image.

It is part of Northfield Township High School District, which also includes Glenbrook North High School. Glenbrook South should not be confused with Glenbard South High School, another suburban Chicago high school that is also referred to as "GBS".

Naval Air Station Glenview
Naval Air Station Glenview or NAS Glenview was an operational U.S. Naval Air Station from 1923 to 1995. Located in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, the air base primarily operated training aircraft as well as seaplanes on nearby Lake Michigan during WWII. Reconfigured as a Naval Air Reserve base following WWII, NAS Glenview supported Naval Air Reserve and Marine Air Reserve/4th Marine Aircraft Wing units, as well as an active duty Coast Guard Air Station.
