Corydon, Indiana

Corydon is a town in Harrison Township, Harrison County, Indiana, United States, founded in 1808. After Vincennes, Corydon was the second capital of the Indiana Territory from May 1, 1813, until the establishment of the state of Indiana. After statehood, the town was the capital of Indiana until January 10, 1825, when it moved to Indianapolis. The town remains the county seat of Harrison County and had a population of 3,122 at the 2010 census.

The school serves high school age students of Harrison Township, Washington Township, Heth Township, and Webster Township. It is the largest school in Harrison County. It is part of the Louisville-Jefferson County, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the county's population was 39,364, an increase of 6.6% from 2000. The county seat is Corydon, the former capital of Indiana. The county has a diverse economy with no sector employing more than 13% of the local workforce.

Corydon Battle Site

The Corydon Battle Site is a protected park area that preserves the battlefield where a portion of the Battle of Corydon occurred on July 9, 1863. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 9, 1979. It is part of the Harrison County Parks Department and is officially known as the Battle of Corydon Memorial Park.
