Cory, Indiana

Cory is an unincorporated town in Perry Township, Clay County, Indiana. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. Originally called "Skillet Lick" Cory was named from a benefactor with the last name of Cory who donated the funding to dig a well. At one time, Cory had three saloons, a general store, a feed store, a hotel, a funeral home, a barber shop, and a rail station. Cory was located on a rail line between Terre Haute and Coal City where coal was strip mined.
