Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology (abbreviated RHIT), formerly Rose Polytechnic Institute, is a small private college specializing in teaching engineering, mathematics and science. RHIT is highly regarded for its undergraduate engineering program, which US News and World Reports ranked in 2013 as No. 1 in the United States of engineering schools where a doctorate degree is not offered, a position it has held since 2000. Oakley Observatory

Oakley Observatory is an astronomical observatory operated by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Oakley Observatory is a teaching observatory with eight permanently mounted telescopes. One of the telescopes is a six-inch refractor built by Clark and Sons in 1886. The other telescopes are all reflecting telescopes ranging in size from eight to twenty two inches. In addition to being used for astronomy classes students use the observatory for research and recreation.
