Pipe Creek Sinkhole
Pipe Creek Sinkhole near Swayzee in Grant County, Indiana, is one of the most important paleontological sites in the interior of the eastern half of North America, due to preservation, and the exception from 'typical glacial strata mixing' from glaciation. Uncovered in 1996 by workers at the Pipe Creek Junior limestone quarry, the sinkhole has yielded a diverse array of fossils from the Pliocene epoch dating back five million years.

The 2010 Indiana earthquake was an earthquake that registered 3.8 on the moment magnitude scale and struck near Greentown and Kokomo on 30 December 2010 at 12:55:21 UTC at a depth of 4.9 km. The “extremely rare and unprecedented” earthquake had the largest magnitude of a northern Indiana earthquake in 175 years. It was incorrectly recorded by nearby stations as a 4.2 magnitude befoe being downgraded to 3.8.
