Floyd County, Iowa

Floyd County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 16,303 in the 2010 census, a decline from 16,900 in the 2000 census. The county seat is Charles City. It was established in 1854 and was named for Sgt. Charles Floyd of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, who died in 1804 near what is now Sioux City, Iowa, and who was the only member thereof to die on the Expedition.

Charles City College

Charles City College was a private liberal arts college that operated from 1967 to 1968 in Charles City, Iowa. It was one of several Midwestern colleges established by local civic leaders with the support and encouragement of Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. These Parsons "satellite schools" were by-products of the strong growth and apparent success of Parsons during the late 1950s and early 1960s, and all followed the "Parsons Plan" academic model developed at that school.
