Giard, Iowa

Giard is an unincorporated community in Clayton County, Iowa, United States. Its elevation is 1,122 feet (342 m), and it is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:43|0|20|N|91|17|21|W|type:city | |name= }} (43.0055403, -91.2892995). A post office was established in the community on September 28, 1854; after being disestablished, it was restored on August 7, 1914 and operated until January 15, 1925 except for a short hiatus at the end of 1918.

Froelich was once served by its own post office, which is now closed.

Spook Cave

Spook Cave is a flooded cave located about seven miles west of McGregor, Iowa in rural Clayton County, Iowa. It is privately owned and is operated as a tourist attraction. One can take an escorted boat ride into the cave. The cave was first discovered in 1953 and opened for business in 1955. There is a campground with full service for RVs. The cave is in the drainage of Bloody Run Creek, a small tributary of the Upper Mississippi River. A lock and dam maintain water levels.

McGregor, Iowa

McGregor is a city in Clayton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 871 at the 2010 census. McGregor is located on the Mississippi River across from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Pike's Peak State Park is located just south of the city. Just to the north of McGregor is the city of Marquette.

Marquette, Iowa

Marquette is a city in Clayton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 375 at the 2010 census, down from 421 at the 2000 census. The city, which is located on the Mississippi River, is named after Jesuit missionary Jacques Marquette, who along with Louis Joliet discovered the Mississippi River just southeast of the city on June 17, 1673.
