Jasper County is a county located in the US state of Iowa. It was organized in 1846 and is named after Sergeant William Jasper, a Revolutionary War hero. The population was 36,842 in the 2010 census, a decline from 37,213 in the 2000 census. The Newton Correctional Facility is a low and medium security correctional institution of the Iowa Department of Corrections. It is located in Palo Alto Township, in unincorporated Jasper County, Iowa, near Newton. Currently the institution has 350 staff members and about 1,050 inmates. The facility houses the Correctional Release Center - a low security unit that prepares inmates in the Iowa correctional system for parole, work release, or discharge.

Iowa Speedway
Iowa Speedway is a 7/8-mile (1.4 km) paved oval motor racing track in Newton, Iowa, United States, approximately 30 miles east of Des Moines. The track was designed with influence from Rusty Wallace and patterned after Richmond International Raceway, a short track where Wallace was very successful. It has over 25,000 permanent seats as well as a unique multi-tiered Recreational Vehicle viewing area along the backstretch.
