Cylinder is a city in Palo Alto County, Iowa, United States. The population was 88 at the 2010 census. There is no clear evidence of the derivation of the name of the town. However, one story suggests that the name comes from a vehicle that passed over the creek and dropped a cylinder. There are other stories, but no clear definitive explanation.

Algona Municipal Airport is a public airport located two miles (3 km) west of the central business district of Algona, a city in Kossuth County, Iowa, United States. It is owned by the City of Algona. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Algona Municipal is assigned AXA by the FAA and AXG by the IATA.

Algona College

Algona College an American institution of higher education operated in the city of Algona, in Kossuth County, Iowa, between 1869 and 1875. The college was associated with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Iowa historian and author, Harvey Ingham, wrote a history of the college in 1925 and reported that the college closed due to financial difficulties resulting from a plague of locusts.
