It is located 5.6 miles west-southwest of Great Bend, Kansas, and was closed in 1946. Today it is used as Great Bend Municipal Airport. Great Bend Army Airfield (AAF) is significantly historic as it was in the first group United States Army Air Forces B-29 Superfortress bases for initial training on the aircraft in the summer of 1943.

KVGB 1590 AM is a radio station of the news and Talk radio format, broadcasting general interest talk programs from hosts such as Jim Bohannon, George Noory Dave Ramsey and Kim Komando, based in Great Bend, USA. It is owned by Eagle Communications Inc. Eagle Communications owns other Kansas radio stations in Salina, Hutchinson, Hays, Great Bend, Pratt, Hoisington and Hill City. One of the oldest radio stations in western Kansas, KVGB first signed on the air in the late 1940s.

Great Bend Station
Great Bend Station was an Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway station in Great Bend, Kansas. The station was along Santa Fe's main line between Chicago and Los Angeles. It was on the "northern branch" of the main line as it spilt in Hutchinson, Kansas. It was also served by a line the ran to Garden City, Kansas, travelling through Ness City and Scott City. Both of these lines are now operated by the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad.

Great Bend High School Memorial Stadium
Great Bend High School Memorial Stadium is a sport stadium in Great Bend, Kansas. The facility is primarily used by the Great Bend High School football and track & field teams. The stadium underwent renovation recently. The stadium was also used as a temporary home by nearby Hoisington High School after much of Hoisington suffered severe damage from an F-4 tornado on April 21, 2001.
