Paintsville Lake is a 1,139-acre reservoir in Johnson and Morgan counties in eastern Kentucky. It was impounded from Paint Creek in 1983 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. It is the major attraction of Paintsville Lake State Park.

The park contains thirty-two developed campsites, ten primitive campsites, a playground, four picnic shelters, a four lane launch ramp, an amphitheater, a restaurant, a marina, and a Kiwanis Trail.

The school serves as the Johnson County School District's consolidated high school. As of the 2009–10 school year, enrollment is 1,040 in grades 9-12.
