Independence, Kentucky

Independence is a suburban city in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 24,757 at the 2010 census. It is one of two county seats of Kenton County. In 1840, Kenton County, Kentucky was formed from a large portion of Campbell County as well as a small portion of Boone County, named after pioneer Simon Kenton, who had helped explore the territory.

Kenton County, Kentucky

Kenton County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States. It was formed in 1840. In 2010, the population was 159,720. It is the third most populous county in Kentucky behind Jefferson County and Fayette County. Its county seats are Covington and Independence. It was, until November 24, 2010, the only county in Kentucky to have two legally recognized county seats; Campbell County now joins Kenton County in that distinction.

Latonia Lakes, Kentucky

Latonia Lakes is a former city in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 325 at the 2000 census. The city voted to be dissolved in the general elections on November 7, 2006, although the results were contested due to alleged voting irregularities. Following the certification of the election results, the city was officially dissolved on December 16, 2006.

Edgewood, Kentucky

Edgewood is a city in Kenton County, Kentucky. The population was 9,400 at the 2000 census. It was named for an early homestead in Walker Estates. Edgewood was established on November 15, 1948. Shortly after the formation of the city, it merged with several surrounding cities. The biggest of these mergers occurred in 1968 when the city merged with Summit Hills Heights and St. Pius Heights. The new city government began operating on January 1, 1969.
