Battle of Middle Creek

The Battle of Middle Creek was an engagement fought January 10, 1862, in Eastern Kentucky during the American Civil War. The battle, along with the Battle of Mill Springs, positioned the Union armies to invade Middle Tennessee. More than a month after Confederate Colonel John S. Williams left Kentucky, following the fight at Ivy Mountain, Brig. Gen. Humphrey Marshall led another force into Eastern Kentucky to continue recruiting activities.

Allen Central High School

Allen Central High School (ACHS) is a secondary school located in Eastern, Floyd County, Kentucky, U.S.A. , and is one of four public high schools in the Floyd County School system. The school colors were Columbia blue and gray; however, over time dark red has been added. Built in the late 1960s, the first principal at ACHS was Dave Hensley.

Mountain Arts Center

The Mountain Arts Center is a performing arts venue located at 50 Hal Rogers Drive in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. The center was established in October 1996 and became home to the Kentucky Opry. Its main feature is the 1,054 seat theater, along with several large meeting rooms, a recording studio, an arts education room, individual instruction halls, and an art gallery.
