Irvine, Kentucky

Irvine is a city in and county seat of Estill County, Kentucky, United States. Its population was 2,843 at the 2000 census. It is located on the Kentucky River at the junction of Kentucky Route 52 and Kentucky Route 89. It was built on land once granted to Green Clay. It was founded on January 28, 1812 and named for William Irvine, an early settler and Indian fighter. The town did not incorporate until 1849, and was ransacked on October 13, 1864 by Confederate guerrillas, who burned the jail.

Estill County, Kentucky

Estill County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It was formed in 1808. As of 2010, the population was 14,672. Its county seat is Irvine, Kentucky. Formed in 1808, the county is named after Captain James Estill, a Kentucky militia officer killed in the Battle of Little Mountain during the American Revolutionary War. It is a prohibition or dry county.

Bybee, Kentucky

Bybee is an unincorporated community in Madison County, Kentucky, United States. It lies east of Richmond on Kentucky Route 52. The community is part of the Richmond–Berea Micropolitan Statistical Area. Putting Bybeetown on the Map by Jason Fritz, a collection of poems from Finishing Line Press that will be released on October 16, 2009, details daily life in the area. Bybee is known for its beautiful stoneware, particularly a cobalt blue glaze that is common in that area.
