Northwest Branch Saint John River

The Northwest Branch Saint John River is a 15.5-mile-long river primarily in Aroostook County, Maine. Its origin is Lac Frontière in Quebec, Canada. After crossing the Canada – United States border, the Northwest Branch runs south close to the border until it picks up its tributary, the Daaquam River, which also flows out of Canada. The Northwest Branch then runs generally eastward to its confluence with the Southwest Branch to form the Saint John River.

Big Black River (Saint John River)

The Big Black River is a river in Maine and Quebec. From its source, in L'Islet RCM, Quebec, the river runs northeast and east across the Canada – United States border in Maine Township 14, Range 16, WELS, to the Saint John River in T 15, R 13. Maine's all-time lowest officially verified temperature of −50 °F was recorded at a weather station along the Big Black River on January 16, 2009. The previous record was −48 °F, set at Van Buren, on January 19, 1925.

The Saint John River is a river, approximately 418 miles long, located principally in the Canadian province of New Brunswick but also in, and arising from the province of Quebec and the U.S. state of Maine. It forms part of the Canada – United States border in two different places along its length. The river drains an area of approximately 55,000 square kilometres, of which slightly more than half is located in New Brunswick.

Thomas-Sterry-Hunt International Ecological Reserve

Thomas-Sterry-Hunt International Ecological Reserve is an ecological reserve in Quebec, Canada. It was established on September 7, 1988. The ecological reserve was named in honour of Thomas Sterry Hunt, F.R.S. , an American geologist, who served as chief assistant to Sir William Edmond Logan, the director of the Canadian Geological Survey. The reserve lies on the border with the Seboomook Lake territory of extreme northern Somerset County, Maine.
