Dorchester County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland on its Eastern Shore. It is bordered by the Choptank River to the north, Talbot County to the northwest, Caroline County to the northeast, Wicomico County to the southeast, Sussex County, Delaware, to the east, and the Chesapeake Bay to the west. Dorchester County uses the slogan, "The Heart of Chesapeake Country," due to its geographical location and the heart-like shape of the county on a map.

Honga River
The Honga River is an estuary on the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay, bounded on the west by Hooper's Island and on the east by the mainland of Dorchester County, Maryland. 14 miles in length and something over 1 mile wide, it runs southeast to the west entrance of Hooper Strait, north of Tangier Island; the Hooper Strait Light stood between the two. Fishing Bay is a large saltwater bay, located in Dorchester County, Maryland. From tributaries to its north in the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and Fishing Bay Wildlife Management Area, it flows south into the Chesapeake Bay. Its borders are formed by Elliot's Island, to the east, and the greater bulk of Dorchester County to the west.
