North Point State Park

North Point State Park is a Chesapeake Bay waterfront park located in Edgemere, MD. The park is situated on the grounds that once were the home of Bay Shore Amusement Park, which was one of the premiere amusement parks in Maryland from 1906 - 1947. Current visitors to the park can enjoy hiking, wading, birdwatching, bicycling, fishing, picnicking, group events, and remnants of Bay Shore Park, such as the restored Trolley Station and fountain.

Sparrows Point High School

Sparrows Point High is a comprehensive high school for students in grades 9 - 12 and is one of the 24 high schools in the Baltimore County Public Schools. The current enrollment is 795 with 27.6 - 29.0 students per class. The school was established in 1908 and is located on a 35-acre campus in the southeastern corner of Baltimore County on a peninsula, which juts out into the Chesapeake Bay.

Battle of North Point

The Battle of North Point was fought on September 12, 1814, between General John Stricker's Maryland Militia and a British force led by Major General Robert Ross. Although tactically a British victory, the battle delayed the British advance against Baltimore, buying valuable time for the defense of the city. The engagement was a part of the larger Battle of Baltimore, a strategic American victory in the War of 1812.
