Wye River (Maryland)

The Wye River is a 16.3-mile-long tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was named by the Lloyd family, Edward Lloyd (delegate), and Edward Lloyd (Governor of Maryland), after the River Wye in Wales. It falls within Queen Anne's County and Talbot County, and joins the Miles River near its mouth to the Eastern Bay.

Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers

The Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers consists of 1,100 acres acres overlooking the Wye River on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The site, parts of which were once known as the Wye River Plantation, was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Houghton, Jr. in 1979. William Paca, a signee of the Declaration of Independence and third governor of Maryland, maintained his family estate here and a monument to his memory stands near the Houghton House.
