Polish Mountain

Polish Mountain is located in Allegany County, Maryland, United States. It borders on Town Creek Tributary on the east, north of Town Creek, and extending northeastward into Pennsylvania. Its highest elevation is 1,800 feet. In February 2011, nine Maryland State Senators introduced a bill to rename Polish Mountain and Negro Mountain. All four Western Maryland state representatives testified against the proposed bill. The bill was voted down in committee. (N. 39°42' W. 78°31')

Green Spring Run

Green Spring Run is an 8.9-mile-long tributary stream of the North Branch Potomac River in Hampshire County in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Green Spring Run rises in Greenwood Hollow north of Springfield and meanders northeast through Green Spring Valley. The South Branch Valley Railroad and Green Spring Road (West Virginia Secondary Route 1) run parallel to the stream. It runs through the community of Green Spring, from which the stream takes its name.

Allegany County, Maryland

Allegany County is a county located in the northwestern part of the US state of Maryland. It is part of the Cumberland, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2010, the population was 75,087. Its county seat is Cumberland. The name Allegany may come from a local Lenape word, welhik hane or oolikhanna, which means 'best flowing river of the hills' or 'beautiful stream'. A number of counties in the Appalachian region of the US are named Allegany, Allegheny, or Alleghany.

Town Creek (Potomac River)

Town Creek is a 41.6-mile-long tributary stream of the Potomac River in the U.S. states of Maryland and Pennsylvania. The creek is formed from the confluence of Sweet Root Creek and Elk Lick Creek, about 0.5 miles south of Buchanan State Forest in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Town Creek flows south along the base of Warrior Mountain into Allegany County, Maryland. It empties into the Potomac about 4 miles east of Oldtown, Maryland.
