Delaware, Michigan

Delaware is an unincorporated community in Keweenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was established in 1846 as a copper mining town. It is located in the Keweenaw Peninsula, ten miles south of Copper Harbor and around twenty five miles north of Calumet. When the town was first settled it had a population of one hundred and rose to a population close to 1200 during full operation.

Delaware Mine

The Delaware Mine is located off U.S. Highway 41, 12 miles in Grant Township, Keweenaw County, south of Copper Harbor, Michigan and is a Keweenaw Heritage Site. The Delaware Copper Mine provides tours of one of the oldest copper mines in the Keweenaw, dating back to 1846. The mine had five shafts, with the deepest reaching 1,400 feet . The mine is open June through October and offers guided and self-guided tours.

Silver River (Keweenaw County)

The Silver River is a 3.2-mile-long stream near the northern tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula in the U.S. state of Michigan. It rises out of a marsh around Bailey Pond at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:47|26|16|N|88|03|08|W|region:US-MI_type:river_source:GNIS | |name= }} and flows mostly northward into Lake Superior at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:47|28|05|N|88|04|26|W|region:US-MI_type:river_source:GNIS | |name= }}.

Mandan, Michigan

Mandan is a ghost town in Grant Township, Keweenaw County, Michigan, on US Highway 41, about twelve miles south of Copper Harbor, Michigan. It was the site of the Mandan Mine and the Medora Mine, two copper mines which were organized in 1864 and worked intermittently until their abandonment in 1909. The town was served by the Keweenaw Central Railroad.

Mount Bohemia

Mount Bohemia is a ski resort located near Lac La Belle, Michigan, in the northern Keweenaw peninsula. Mount Bohemia operates two chairlifts, and offers the highest vertical drop in the Midwest with 900 feet from the top of the peak to the base of the resort. The resort has 85 runs and first opened for business in 2000. Mount Bohemia does not operate any snow making equipment and relies on its 250 to 300 inch year average of lake effect snow, the most seen at any resort in the Midwest.
