Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport

Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport is a public use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Oscoda, an unincorporated community in Iosco County, Michigan, United States. It is owned by the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority. It was built out of a portion of the decommissioned Wurtsmith Air Force Base which housed nuclear armed B-52 Stratofortress bombers during the Cold War as well as several air refueling squadrons.

Wurtsmith Air Force Base

For the civil use of this facility and airport information, see Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Wurtsmith Air Force Base is a decommissioned United States Air Force base in northeastern Iosco County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The former base includes 4,626 acres located approximately two miles west of Lake Huron in the Charter Township of Oscoda, bordered by Van Ettan Lake, the Au Sable State Forest.

WQLB

WQLB and WKJZ are a pair of radio stations known as "HITS FM" playing a variety of music from the 1960s through the 1980s. It had broadcast a classic rock format ("B-Rock," partially satellite-fed from Jones Radio Networks) until May 2007 when it switched to its current variety hits format. Prior to "B-Rock," WKJZ 94.9 had been a simulcast of country sister station 104.7 WKJC. "Hits FM" is also heard on translator W251AD.
