Pokegama Dam

not to be confused with Pokegama Lake, Pine County, Minnesota Pokegama Dam (National ID # MN00584) is a dam in Itasca County, Minnesota, northwest of the city of Grand Rapids. The concrete and timber crib dam was constructed in 1884 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, with a height of 17 feet, and a length of 385 feet at its crest. It impounds the Upper Mississippi River for flood control, navigation, and municipal drinking water.

Grand Rapids High School

Grand Rapids High School is a four year public high school located in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on 800 Conifer Drive. GRHS offers a wide range of extra curricular activities, and boasts one of the only competitive field show marching band programs north of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. GRHS' Student Council and the school facility served as the host of the 2010 Minnesota Student Council State Convention in April. The Theme was "Survivor Northwoods: Leadership By Nature"

Grand Rapids is a city in Itasca County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 10,869 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Itasca County. The city of Grand Rapids is named for the 3.5-mile long local rapids in the Mississippi River, which was the uppermost limit of practical steamboat travel during the late 19th century. Today, those rapids are hidden underneath the dam of the Blandin Paper Mill.
