Zumbro Falls, Minnesota

Zumbro Falls is a city along the Zumbro River in Wabasha County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 207 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highway 63 and Minnesota 60 intersect in Zumbro Falls. The original settlement on the south side of the Zumbro River dates back to 1857. A grist-mill dam built in 1866 created the falls for which the town is named. Numerous floods have swept away all but a few traces of the dam. Frequent flooding and a tornado prompted relocation to the north of the river.

Bridge No. 5827-Zumbro Falls

Bridge No 5827 is a highway bridge in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, United States. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places under "Iron and Steel Bridges in Minnesota, 1873-1945". The bridge is on Minnesota State Highway 60, 0.1 miles east of the US 63 intersection. This bridge was built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1938 for an approximate cost of $2000.

Walnut Street Bridge (Mazeppa, Minnesota)

The Walnut Street Walking Bridge (#R0412) crosses the Zumbro River in Mazeppa, Minnesota. This bridge was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 2003. This bridge was built in 1904 and is a Pratt truss bridge. Almost lost in a flood caused by severe thunderstorms in June 1998 and having aged, the bridge was closed for safety reasons. When it was refurbished in 2002, the timber walkway was replaced, as were bearings, stringers, piers, abutments and hand railings.
