Northwest Airlink Flight 5719

Northwest Airlink Flight 5719 was a flight from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States to Falls International Airport in International Falls, Minnesota with a scheduled intermediate stop at Chisholm-Hibbing Airport in Hibbing, Minnesota; on December 1, 1993 a Jetstream 31 operated by Express II as Northwest Airlink crashed into two ridges just east of Hibbing. All sixteen passengers and two pilots aboard died in the accident.

Chisholm, Minnesota

Chisholm is a city in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 4,976 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highway 169 and State Highway 73 (MN 73) are two of the main routes in Chisholm. A mining town on the Mesabi Range, Chisholm was founded by Archibald Mark Chisholm.

Iron Man (statue)

The Iron Man statue is located at the entrance to the Ironworld Discovery Center 1.28 kilometers outside in Chisholm, Minnesota. It is 81 ft tall including the 36-foot-tall figure, and was completed in 1987 out of iron ore. It is accompanied by a plaque with the The Emergence of Man Through Steel poem and is said to be the world's largest iron man. It was created by Jack E. Anderson of Lake Linden, Michigan who also created a Bishop Baraga sculpture in L'Anse, Michigan.
