Maple Plain, Minnesota

Maple Plain is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It is located about 25 miles west of Minneapolis on U.S. Route 12. It is named for the many sugar maples in its forests. Early settlement of the area started in 1854 and revolved around Lake Independence to its North, and its outflow Pioneer Creek. In 1868 and 1869, the St. Paul, Pacific and Manitoba Railroad was built through Maple Plain. By 1871, Maple Plain had a post office. The city was incorporated as a village in 1912.

Dutch Lake

Dutch Lake is a lake located in the state of Minnesota. It was named for its early German population. It is a 159.50 acres acre lake that is west-southwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul in the Minneapolis suburb of Mound and Minnetrista. It has an average depth of 15.15 feet and a maximum depth of 45 ft . Slow Creek, its un-navigable outflow is on its northeast shore. It connects the lake the Lake Minnetonka.
