Charles W. Dean Bridge

The Charles W. Dean Bridge, known before 1999 as the Great River Bridge, will be a cable-stayed bridge carrying Interstate 69 and US 278 across the Mississippi River between Arkansas City, Arkansas and Benoit, Mississippi. The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department began land acquisition for the project in October 2006.

Benoit /bɨˈnɔɪt/ is a town in Bolivar County, Mississippi. The population was 611 at the 2000 census. The 1956 movie Baby Doll was shot on location at The Burrus House in Benoit; many local residents played in minor roles.

Desha County, Arkansas

Desha County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,008. The county seat is Arkansas City. Desha County is Arkansas's 40th county, formed on December 12, 1838, and named for Captain Benjamin Desha who fought in the War of 1812.

Napoleon, Arkansas

Napoleon is a ghost town in Desha County, Arkansas, United States, near the confluence of the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers. Once the county seat of Desha County, Napoleon was flooded in 1874 when the banks of the Mississippi River burst through and destroyed the once-thriving river port town. In 1852, Bolivar County, Mississippi, established its county seat, "Wellington," nearly opposite Napoleon, Arkansas, on the east bank of the Mississippi River.

McGehee High School

McGehee High School is a comprehensive public secondary school located in McGehee, Arkansas, United States. McGehee serves more than 500 students in grades 7 through 12. McGehee is one of two public high schools in Desha County and is the sole high school administered by the McGehee School District. The McGehee sports teams have won 18 state championships.
