Raleigh is a town in, and the county seat of, Smith County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,462 at the 2010 census, making it the largest town in Smith County. Named for English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh, Raleigh has been home to such Mississippians as Governor Robert Lowry, Governor/U.S. Senator Anselm McLaurin and pioneer William H. Hardy.

WRBJ (TV)

WRBJ, channel 34, is a full-powered CW-affiliated television station in Jackson, Mississippi. The station is owned by St. Louis-based Roberts Broadcasting. Its studio and sales office are located in Jackson, and its transmitter is located in northern Smith County, north of Raleigh, and licensed to Magee. Unlike other Jackson TV stations, WRBJ's signal may be capable of reaching Hattiesburg and Meridian.

Mize, Mississippi

Mize is a town in Smith County, Mississippi. The population was 285 at the 2000 census. On April 6, 2005, an F-3 tornado struck Mize High School. The school's second floor was ripped off by sheer force of wind and the entire structure was severely damaged. Reconstruction efforts were completed in 2007. Football player Eugene Sims is a native of Mize, as was Prentiss Walker, the first Republican to represent Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives since Reconstruction.
